National Court Reporting and Captioning Week 2016

\nThe fourth annual National Court Reporting and Captioning Week kicks off this month during the week of February 14-20. This week-long event was established by the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) to celebrate the court reporting and captioning profession and help raise public awareness for the career opportunities that exist in the field today.\n\n

Why is it Important to Recognize Court Reporters and Captioners

\n\nCourt reporters play a critical role in society, but rarely do they get the recognition they deserve. From preserving thought and history to improving our justice system to serving the deaf and hard-of-hearing community through captioning and CART services, court reporters and captioners touch millions of people in many different ways. \n\nIn an effort to support an official legislative recognition of National Court Reporting & Captioning Week, The NCRA encourages court reporters, captioners, CART providers, schools and firms to participation in this national event to help spread awareness. One of the easiest ways to show your support is by spreading the word through your preferred social media outlets using the hashtag #courtreportingweek.\n\n

How to Celebrate National Court Reporting and Captioning Week

\n\nIn addition to spreading the word, there are many other ways you can help celebrate the week. The NCRA has made available a vast collection of court reporting event resources to help you host an event. Local schools and organizations may also be hosting events in your area, such as open houses, interviews and showcases about the profession. \n\n

Increase Court Reporting Career Awareness

\n\nOne of the main objectives of this holiday is to help raise public awareness about the growing number of employment opportunities the career offers. The Take Note campaign, which was launched in response to an industry-wide outlook report that determined a need to fill jobs in the field, contributes to the cause by providing a wealth of court reporting educational information to parents and school counselors about court reporting training and career opportunities.\n\nFor more information, visit The National Court Reporters Association and take the opportunity to learn more about how you can help raise awareness for a wonderful and unique career path.\n\n
